So let's start with a bit of how I made Amir. Like I said earlier this has been a dream costume of mine ever since the manga started, but I didn't start working on it right away. Firstly, I knew it would be really labor intensive and there always seemed to be reasons to make other costumes. Secondly I knew I wanted to use good materials and that takes money.  So I kept having it on my 'someday' folder until we were discussing our options for the WCS preliminaries and yumi brought Otoyomegatari up as one of the possibilities. Honestly I felt like this would be the perfect place for this cosplay, what ever happened in the actual competition. I'm really happy I got to bring Amir to a stage.

Oh boy where to start. So much has been going on with me not really having time to update. I'm still lagging behind with posting some making of stuff from.. sheesh ever since Azula. I will get to those after this, things won't be chronological but I want to update while this is still fresh!
And I'm of course talking about the Tracon X's WCS preliminaries for 2016! And we won! What!
We're going on an adventure next year with YumiKoyuki! I can't!

Even though 2014 included lot of emotions both good and bad I have a generally 'good' feeling about it cosplaywise. I managed to make five costumes all together(well, Azula is still missing couple of zippers and some velcro as we speak but I will benefit her for 2014) which feels really nice since 2013 I only made two costumes. Mostly because I usually have so much going on, I can't work just on a cosplay. Though I have to admit I have been thinking about trying to change my approach and trying maybe 'binge-crafting' something in two weeks and get it over with? It might be ok way to work(and less stresfull) if you do it well before a con.

I swore I wouldn't do updates before I had some more urgent important stuff out of the way and I finally have, so here yay~ I've never been really that into the GoH's of different cons, mostly because I've never been a 'fangirl' of anything or anyone to the extreme(until I bit nowadays). There have been some that I knew and were somewhat interesting in a 'yeah they made a great anime/manga/whatever' but that's about it. And then Animecon announced they would be having Kaoru Mori.
Be still my heart I simply couldn't pass that up. I don't think you understand how much I love Kaoru Mori. I have a deep love for ethnic costumes, folklore fashion and crafts(there are 55 official ethnic minorities in China alone with beautiful traditional costumes) and I love it every time fashion designers are inspired by folklore. Eva Hoscheck makes the most beautiful modern dirndls. Finnish traditional clothing also has some very nice costumes but I've always been a tad sad things have been so simple here. Besides that I just love her style, art, storytelling and characters, generally pretty much everything. I've been planning to cosplay Amir ever since the first Otoyomegatari book hit the shelves.
