We went to have a long, long looooong over due horsie photoshoot with Mialiina, and I recently got a new Canon Gx7 for vlogging and travel purposes so I wanted to start and try to test that out. I'm patiently and eagerly waiting to see the actual results of the shoot, but here's a silly little vid of the day ^^

(I just felt like doing the make up part in the beginning, it's not the complete routine with all the products shown here. Just trying to learn how to film different things. Also I'm still trying to learn the settings so sorry about that too.)

Well it's almost six months since my last update, because I've simply been too busy to update. Yeah right? Well honestly, saying I've been too stressed to update would be a more correct way to put it. In between has been five conventions, so I'm going to do a small recap of those and then... our flight to WCS is leaving in just five days. Yikes!

A fairly long post a head, even if I'm mostly skimming through the events.

Sorry for the bad pun but headlines are always hard to come up with!
Frostbite was last weekend and uh it went by so fast. Between working on Saturday and having couple of photoshoots on Sunday I wished I'd seen a bit more of the program that I did.

Originally I was supposed to make a new costume for Frostbite, then after Yukicon decided I wouldn't  have time with everything I need to get done and decided I'd just bring Asuka instead. Then a week before the con I was like 'you know I have enough done so that in theory, I might be able to pull the costume off after all'. With a little help from a friend who came by and gave a hand with some buttons and loops and such I somehow managed it. Some parts need a bit of adjusting, and I didn't get a proper shoot but Yumi was a darling and took couple of quick snaps for me.

I made Hellena's Arcana Circus version from Granado Espada and this has so many silly parts oh god. I've been wanting to make it for a really long time and I'm superhappy I finally found a spot for it. It feels really nice to have finally something that's been hanging around in your folders done.
In general Hellena is probably the most 'feminine' costume I've made and I feel really out of place in it for that. Also it's always a good idea to make something that is sure to lose your waist, but I knew that when I decided to make it so I can't really blame anyone.

Yukicon was and went and I feel like it was already ages ago. It ended so early and we were home so quickly it lacked the whole 'convention-trip' aspect plus I've been working pretty intensively(yeah actual work) for the week.

So yeah we had an Avatar group! My fist group experience has been incredibly fun and I'm wondering if the bar has been set a bit high now. We ended up being a group of five; Katara, Sokka, Mai, Zuko and Azula, meeting Aang, Yue, Ty Lee and Avatar Kyoshi on the way. We also decided to take part in the group competition since, well we had a group and thought it'd be fun. (which it was)

Did I say we had fun? We had fun.

Even though 2014 included lot of emotions both good and bad I have a generally 'good' feeling about it cosplaywise. I managed to make five costumes all together(well, Azula is still missing couple of zippers and some velcro as we speak but I will benefit her for 2014) which feels really nice since 2013 I only made two costumes. Mostly because I usually have so much going on, I can't work just on a cosplay. Though I have to admit I have been thinking about trying to change my approach and trying maybe 'binge-crafting' something in two weeks and get it over with? It might be ok way to work(and less stresfull) if you do it well before a con.

Somehow I feel like every time cons just go by faster and faster. This time we sort of started already on Friday with the Final Fantasy concert at Tampere-talo, and since I'm not that familiar with the original music I didn't know much what to expect. I thought is was a good move in general, I don't know how much your average convention-goers go listen to things like the philharmonic orchestra, so a right kind of theme might get even a little unconventional audience on the move. I enjoyed it, I heard later it differed so much from the original source that it was hard for some people to enjoy but like I said I didn't really have any expectations.
