Been a while since I posted about working on Alice Misstitched version, so here's the rest of the WIP's since the costume's finally finished.

In the end what I though would be a fairly "fast and simple" costume to make, it was possible to put a lot of hand stitching and other fiddling in it, which made it a lot longer project than I originally anticipated.

 I can't believe I haven't updated anything here about making Jester. She was a project I started before Covid and very slowly (Covid pretty much coincided with my chronic fatigue period) continued during it. I mostly finished earlier but then did a couple of small touch ups for the Desucon craftmanship competition this year.

A year ago I started feeling like really wanting to make an Ivy costume, so I started googling different versions for one I could use as a starting point. That's when I  found the covers for the Everyone loves Ivy story. I really liked the contrast with the black & green and decided to use this one. I also really liked the design of the body and the fact that it has a structured part.

In 2017 I made Cassandra to accompany Elinacosplay 's Sophitia for fun and so we could bring them WCS for the alumni trip. But I didn't have the time to make her weapons. So when she and Maija asked if I'd like to wear it again for Desucon I thought it was time to make them finally.

I promised to upload my presentation about thermoplastics for beginners, and I apologize for being a little late with it! Unfortunately the actual presentation is more of a list, rather than an in depth lesson, because I use it as notes when I explain about the materials, but if you have been to the lecture this might help bring some things back to mind.

Uploading it here feels like I need to update and make it a bit more visually pleasing, since this version relies on me doing the talking. ^^; Maybe I can upload a better version later!

In the meanwhile, I've been working on Cassandra's shield and sword to get them ready for Desucon~
I made the costume in 2017 and took it to the WCS alumni trip, but it's never felt really finished with the missing props. I'll do another post about them once they are finished!

The blog has been a bit on the quiet side simply because I've been too busy to update. Shame! But here's one of the reasons though, last weekend was the Desucon Eurocosplay preliminaries that I took part in. The reason to my quietness (and busyness) is mostly that a) I ended up having two jobs b) I was trying to get some convention work done and c) because of these I wasn't sure if I could actually finish my contest entry on time. Luckily (somehow) I managed, with enough time for good night sleeps before the event. I even did a little tour to Animecon NL the previous weekend! Here's just a little something to get my thoughts out on the competition it self.

Start of the year and so on. Desucon was the first convention of the year and so on. And so enjoyable again, I never get to do all the things I'd want and hung out with all the people I'd want because time just flies away. But hey, I made a new costume!

Well it's almost six months since my last update, because I've simply been too busy to update. Yeah right? Well honestly, saying I've been too stressed to update would be a more correct way to put it. In between has been five conventions, so I'm going to do a small recap of those and then... our flight to WCS is leaving in just five days. Yikes!

A fairly long post a head, even if I'm mostly skimming through the events.

Even though 2014 included lot of emotions both good and bad I have a generally 'good' feeling about it cosplaywise. I managed to make five costumes all together(well, Azula is still missing couple of zippers and some velcro as we speak but I will benefit her for 2014) which feels really nice since 2013 I only made two costumes. Mostly because I usually have so much going on, I can't work just on a cosplay. Though I have to admit I have been thinking about trying to change my approach and trying maybe 'binge-crafting' something in two weeks and get it over with? It might be ok way to work(and less stresfull) if you do it well before a con.

I'm gonna be productive and do this little Desucon update right away so it won't linger on for an eternity. Simply put I had a blast! Awesome people, great costumes, nice program... Even Desuweather failed us and it was mostly warm and sunny. Again, the photos are free to use, credit would be nice though and if you find a photo of yourself you wish not to be here contact me and I shall take it down.

I didn't have anything special thought for this time, except for the little workshop I already advertised in my earlier entry. Mostly the plan was to do tha thing, then spend rest of the con going to lectures and panels and meet friends.
 The workshop went quite well, I think(hope). There were definitely more people than I anticipated, which was good, but since it was the first time and I wasn't exactly sure about the equipment etc. before starting I did get some improvement ideas for the next time. And yes there's going to be a next time! I was asked to keep the workshop in Desucon as well, so if you missed Frostbite fear not, you will have another chance there~

I had one photoshoot agreed before hand, and one surprise one that made me incredibly happy and I can't wait to get the photos from that one I know they're gonna be goooood ah!
Some of them were with the darling Ilona, apparently a few more NGE costumes were supposed to come but didn't manage them in time for the con... Here, imagine my sad face for a second :( But more about those when they publish!

I was supposed to update after Tracon 8, but somehow I stayed waiting for a few photos so that I'd have something to show and since I still haven't got them, it's been quite long... But here goes a little general up-to-date entry~ (And a little advertisement!)

Finally had a bit of time and energy to write about my Kasumi Goto cosplay. Some people asked me how long did I work on it, and I said on/off since Christmas but I liiieeeeeed. I'm sorry, I later realized it was on/off after Desucon Frostbite 2013, and finished for Desucon 2013.

I just want to say that I had the most amazing con, thank you everyone who I met and talked with! Here's my bunch of photos. Some of them are taken by me and some by my friend(Kalae) to whom I gave my camera to babysit every now and then. This time there are no photos of the competitions because I didn't really have a chance to keep the camera with me for reasons, plus my photos of the stage are always so sucky anyway I think it's best to look at what the official professionals took.

I made a Kasumi Goto's red loyalty version cosplay for Desucon, but I will talk about it later in a separate entry when I get photos from different photographers.

I'm still all doki doki about the weekend, that's how much fun I had meeting all the people and all the things I got to do there ; u;

For credit's sake I have divided the pictures so that the first bunch are the ones I took and the second bunch is Kalae's photos(in no particular order).

I did a small photoshoot with a friend for her costume at Frostbite. It was really nice to be able to photograph with time and not just taking quick random snaps and hope for the best. Here are some of my personal favorites~ If you have any critique or thoughts about the photos feel free to comment!

Frostbite was last weekend and confirmed at least three things for me a) I need a bigger SF card asap b) I need a better lens asap c) I don't want to go without a cosplay to another con ever again buhuhu. I did have super fun taking photos though. I tried my best photographing as many costumes as possible, but my card was full by Sunday morning... So many great things were left unphotographed! Now the only lens I can really use in conventions doesn't have an autofocus which means too many pics end up blurry.

I wish I get to upgrade my lens this year and practice more~ Here are my random photos from the con. If you find your own photo and would like it to be removed, just let me know. You're also welcome to use them as you wish but crediting would be nice.
